True Love Will Find You in the End
Curated by Emelie Chhangur
21 May – 13 June 2004

Come by Zsa Zsa (962 Queen St. W., Toronto) during gallery hours Thursday-Sunday, 1-5 pm and watch the frame-by-frame, real-time embroidery of 640 480‘s newest video True Love Will Find You in the End. Embroidery begins on 19 May; by the end of the exhibition on 30 May, the video will be translated from the original moving digital image into intricately embroidered 7 x 10″ images on cloth. Come to the opening reception on Friday 21 May, from 8-11 pm to watch the video, meet the artists, and learn more about the hybrid machine created specifically for this exhibition. We will also host a closing reception on Friday 28 May, from 8-11 pm to showcase the finished embroidered video.

Since 2001, the 640 480 (six-forty-four-eighty) video collective has made collaborative works that challenge conventional modes of video production and creation; projects have included video etch-a-sketch, video flip-books, video-centerfolds, and video-prints. Please visit our web site, www.yorku.ca/agyu, to watch footage of the video-embroidery process on-line. The AGYU would like to thank Barudan Canada Inc. for the loan of the embroidery machine and for their support in the realization of this unusual marriage of electronic devices.
