Natascha Niederstrass
23 – 29 May 2001
From May 23 to May 29, 2001, Natascha Niederstrass will present a body of work, engaging with concepts of the double, space, and the domestic environment. Echoing the architecture of the AGYU, Niederstraass will construct a domestic space in the north gallery, and a maquette of this space in the south, smaller room. By making an unremarkable interior unfamiliar and strange, Niederstrass will expand on her abiding concern with the double and notions of the uncanny.
Natascha Niederstrass is a candidate for the degree of Master of Fine Arts at York University. Each year the AGYU hosts two thesis exhibitions of graduate students from York University’s Department of Visual Arts. These exhibitions, profiling some of York University’s leading artists, are an extension of the AGYU’s commitment to the development of Canada’s visual arts professionals.
