Art on my Mind 2022 workshop series
AGYU was excited to join forces with the Black Creek Community Farm to offer the Art on My Mind 2022 workshop series. Geared towards youth aged 15 to 24 years old, Art on My Mind 2022 included Live Performance workshops facilitated by Hip Hop powerhouse Dynesti (Mondays and Wednesdays, July 4 – 20), Songwriting and Vocal Production workshops with rising R&B and Soul singer Kibra (Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 5 – 21) and Mural Painting workshops with acclaimed visual artists Curtia Wright and Ray Vidal. (weekdays, July 25 – August 2). This program offered an invaluable opportunity to get inspiration and guidance from a team of artists who are making waves in Toronto’s vibrant art scene.
Participants took their performance to the next level by developing dynamic stage presence; writing meaningful lyrics; and honing their vocal production skills. In addition to receiving personalized performance coaching from experienced artists, selected participants also had a paid opportunity to rehearse and perform with a live band at our end of program showcase celebrating the Black Creek Community Farm’s 10 year anniversary on July 23, 2022. The program also included mural painting workshops led by Wright and Vidal. Working alongside accomplished muralists, participants gained hands on experience painting a shipping container that was transformed into a Black Creek Community Farm landmark.
Snacks and bus fare were provided.
To register, individuals were asked to contact the Black Creek Community Farm Youth Coordinator at youth@blackcreekfarm.ca or call 416-393-6381.
All workshops were free, in-person, and took place at the Black Creek Community Farm.
AGYU thanks the Toronto Arts Council, Toronto Arts Foundation, Arts in the Parks Toronto and Black Creek Community Farm for generously supporting this program.
